View Thread: Robarms M-96 Expedition Rifle

They not make these anymore? I never see them talked about nor for sale. I shot one a long time ago, and I have always been enamored of the Stoner, of which it is almost a direct copy. Anybody out there still have one? Just curious.

I'd like to know more too.

Robarm dropped pretty much all support for that rifle when they started working on the XCR. Sucks for the owners, as a lot of promised fixes and upgrades turned out to be vaporware. That, their repeat with the Vepr, and Alex Robinson's support for Romney (Who only wanted to ban "unusually lethal" weapons, whatever the fuck those are) has pretty much made him persona non grata with most firearms enthusiasts.

Alex supported Romney probably because Alex is a Mormon and so is Romney. (Well, so am I, been inactive for 10+ years though, but I thought Romney was a dick.)

Bingo
When they first came out I was thinking about buying one. But at $1,250, I decided to wait. Then I started reading about all of the problems the rifle was having and there seemed to a definite lack of customer service by the company, which turned me off completely.
That is why I never bought one.

Yeah,
This one kinda like the ARM 180... The new ones actually had a design change inside in the gas block area w/ the idea of improving the wapon from the copy of the original... I've seen both designs... The new one was def an improvement... But, this just wasn't enuf I guess...
I've seen them go fro a variety of higher than 1250 prices... Guess because they were from days of old... I still think the top mag model would have been cool to have... I think that alone would have brought a premium w/ the name at a later date....

Dunno, I bought an older example about a year ago. Found out that all the bolt fixes hadn't been done and I had to send it back to ROBARMS to be done. They did all of it and shipped it out. A bit later I broke the bolt. I sent it back and they replaced it under warrantee. They are supposedly contemplating doing a liminted run of the M96s again at some point in the future. I will say it's one of the smoothest, most accurate .223 guns I've owned. Never had any problems with customer service.

Yeah, Robinson had some customer service issues in the past but they're doing very well on that now. They fully support the M-96, there's even a 3rd party making a top rail for it now. There are M-96's on gunbroker pretty regularly, definitely a good shooter and collector piece. How many rifles do you see with a welded, stainless receiver?
I have two XCR's and have been very happy with them. I certainly don't see myself buying another AR over that.

Good for you. I just have this thing about giving money to people who support those who want to strip me of the right to keep these weapons I'm shooting. I dunno, I think it might be some kind of personality defect.
I'd pick one up on the secondary market, but that's about it.

as do I....and XCR-L with two barrels... 556 and 762.
it's a hoot to shoot and accurate with both calibers.
