View Thread: fixxed the bad mag!!

Well, Slick guessed it right. The spring in My "bad mag" was backwards. I flipped it around and it seems to dump as well as the other.

Thanks Slick!!!!!!! You da Man!!

P.s. went out on Wednesday, I think this puts Me at about 600 rounds down range. I believe We could say it's "broke in" at this point. This trip out I had no flinch factor with the rubber scope piece. I think I did fairly well. In fact, it seemed nearly all I cast My "deadly gaze" upon :skull_croreceived a nice hole or was blown into little bits of rubble. :laugh_sma ah,,hahahahahaha!!!!!!

Have a great day all...

That reminds me that I need to clean my ten-rounder. I cleaned the 5-rounder but forgot about the other due to other projects.

Good to hear that.

Slick
Glad that I could help on that..

I had picked up 8 extra magazines to bring my total up to an even 10 and when I took them apart for cleaning, I noticed that 3 of them had the spring in backwards.

Given that all of my magazines appear to be unissued NOS, I've got to conclude that they were likely assembled incorrectly at the factory. So trust nothing and verify everything on these rifle systems. I bet that more than a few of the "bad magazines" that people own have the spring in backwards..

Yup, mag works fine now. We put about eighty rounds through it today. Man I love this rifle!!!! So far I have about 700 rounds down range. The wood is still looking great. I'll be refinishing the iron down the road a bit. I may have it glass beaded and blued. Not sure yet.

How can you tell if the Mag Spring is backwards? I've heard a lot of talk about this but no mention of which orientation is correct. Pics are always helpful. Thanks,

The "upwards" tip of the spring should be forward.

Slick had mentioned that some of these mags come with the spring loaded backwards. I had one mag that worked great and one didn't load right at all. I simply disassembled both mags, compared them and the difference was clear. I would guess if You let the spring go, it would curve one way. The inside of the curve (weakest face) should face the back of the mag. This would put the more "loaded" side at the loading face or front of the mag. in turn pushing the bullet end of the case up and offering it to the bolt. ........dammit I'm long winded!!!
