J&G Sales has Silver Bear 5.45x39 advertised with new bullet type. Does anyone know what is meant by newe bullet type?

It might just be a "new" bullet type to J&G Sales. The early commercial 5.45 ammo had 60 grain bullets then for some reason that sort of disappeared and the only commercial ammo had 70 grain bullets. It might be "new" to Barnaul but has been around from Wolf for a long time. On Barnaul's website it doesn't mention that it is "new" but it is listed.

Oh I see what is "new". It's Silver Bear instead of lacquered.

Sport-hunting cartridges are worked out on the base of military cartridges which have been used by different armies of the world for about a century. All types of cartridges are made with lead core, bimetal covering, steel lacquered case and non corrosive primers of “berdan” type. Reliability and tactic-technical characteristics of cartridges are of the level of best foreign samples. Cartridges are packed in wooden cases or cardboard boxes according to a customer’s order.

Nothing "new" about the Silver Bear 5.45 that I know of...same stuff I always shoot. Oh and the DKG site is wrong about the velocity 3,820 fps...lmao...Tom

All my 5.45 guns digest this stuff happily and its hot and accurate for me.

Tom, point well taken. We ran chrono experiments with various 5.45 factory loads on April 18, 2005 and found the Silver Bear 59gr. FMJ cartridge to give us a velocity figure of 2908'/sec. 25'distance to the chronograph. Temp. was 68 degrees F. Romanian SAR w/16" or so barrel. Humidity normal to that time of year in Massachusetts.
