first AK, with a question

i just got a WASR 2 for my first AK. i have ordered all my parts for it to make it compliant after i dremel out the magwell(Kvar stock set, Tapco G2). it does not have a flash hider of any sort on it. if i were to add a flash hider, will i need to add another US part? what are my options as far as adding a flash hider? thanks, adam

if you bought the rifle in the usa, then it was already compliant. the compliance thing is really only a issue if YOU change the pars, or if you are importing a rifle

oh and to answer your question, as long as you add a flash hider made in the USA then it will be compliant. just becareful not use a fs made in another country, then you would have to add a compliance part

He said he was going to dremel out the magwell to accept hi-cap magazines. As the rifle came into the country it was compliant because it didn't accept hi-caps and didn't need any U.S. made parts. As soon as it can accept hi-capacity magazines, it needs to also have the required amount of U.S. parts in it.

so what are my options for US made flash hiders? do i have to have the barrel threaded in order for them to work?

Welcome to the jungle. You could have your barrel threaded and recrowned, but I wouldn't put anymore $ into a WASR. The flash is minimal compared to a 16".308 or a krink. Military variants are issued with merely a slant break.

as far as the g2 trigger group goes, mine liked to double tap alot because you need to dremel a little off the hammer. so i just left the romanian hammer in the gun and used the tapco sear and trigger. very nice trigger pull compared to the junk fcg that comes with it. so that plus the kvar usa made furniture will put ya at 5 922 parts. id just get usa made mag followers and floor plates for the rest of the compliance parts (thats what i did) for ALL mags you have
