View Thread: Need Info/Links Factory /36\ SKS

vomSpeerhaus
I recently put an all matching, very good condition, good bore (a few dings on stock) SKS factory /36\ on layaway, no import stamps.
I have 2 /26\'s, (1 Para)...it's a /36\.
Siminov.net is down and YooperJohns.com doesn't show much on the /36\.
It is an excellent site tho.
Any help in info/links would be greatly appreciated.

State-Owned Factory 26. The oldest state arsenal in China. It was established by the Nationalist goverment, before WWII. Its location within the city limits of Chongqing (formerly Chunking). SKS carbine production was originally established with Soviet assistance in the mid-1950's. Its manufactturing symbol was a triangle with the #26 inside. The commercial name was Jianshe Machine Tool Factory. Today it is known as Jianshe Industrial Corp. and its main product is motorcycles produced, in a joint venture, with Yamaha of Japan.

Factory #36 is located near the city of Longyan, in the mountains north of Xiamen. It compromises over twenty acres, and includes 30 buildings. The factory director claimed that Factory #36 sent over 250,000 SKS carbines to the united states, in 1993-94. The facility closed in 2002. Its code was #36, within a triangle.

Information above from the book The SKS Carbine written by Steve Kehaya and Joe Poyer, North Cape Publications.

Thnx, mosinutty
That's more info than I've gotten from SKS Boards (I've been an active and ,sometimes, over-reactive member there for a few years.
I also correspond with Jamie at surplusrifles.com.
It's difficult to find much on factory /36\.
I'll try to find that book.
You are correct about the factory/26\. It was also the only factory to produce the highly sought afterSino-Soviet SKS. (I've seen some argue this but failed to prove it.)
I only have a small collection:
1 factory /26\ Para
1 factory /26\ standard w/PU mount
3 Yugo's...1 bubba, 1 all matching shooter, and 1 beautiful "wall hanger".
2 '53 Tula's...1 refurb w/lamo stock and 1 hardwood w/no refurb stamps.(I call them my unidentical twins.)
