View Thread: AR-180.. Where did they all go?

I notice that you never see any of the AR-180 rifles for sale anymore. I know the older ones that used the slotted mag catch may have dried up, but what about the later ones that Armalite made in the 90's. They not make them anymore?

I always thought they were an improvement over the AR-15 design.

I have noticed the same thing. Where are they?

I own a Costa Mesa,

New ones didn't catch on.... They are a bit of a unique bird... Great shooter... I need to get spare parts... I worked up a process on my mill and cut slots in a lot of my AR mags... I have AR mags for my SIG 556....

I just noticed the AR-180b and the AR10b are no longer on Armalite's website. The AR10b doesn't take a scope and the AR-180b was basically an AWB rifle with a fixed stock and non-threaded muzzle brake. I like the traditional AR10b and the newer magazines are much better than the old aluminum waffle mags. The AR-180b has a plastic lower that is always breaking. The firearm is the plastic lower not the steel upper. Now that factory parts are no more we should be able to buy uppers from broken lowers for good prices. The uppers will interchange with the original AR-180 uppers and have the newer faster rifling twist rate. The sheet metal lowers might not be too difficult to make either.

They went to the brothers in Northern Ireland.. ;)

Alles, you think contacting AR would lead to obtaining some of these parts or are they going to come by way of middle men from ARMALITE????
