View Thread: Possible to make a Romak II accept a bayo?

What's invloved in making a Romak II hold a bayonet? Just curious, never read anything about it before.

gas block with a bayo lug?

XSAPPER
Romainian threaded front sight base and an AK-USA Romy 74 muzzle break.

Va_AK
Something I can do myself?

XSAPPER
Drive out the two pins holding the front sight base on. Then replace front sight base with one that has the threads for the muzzle break. Usually you have to finish drilling the holes in the new front sight base.

Alright.. forgive my noobness, but what's the difference in a muzzle brake and a flash hider?

Va_AK
Nevermind, did some quick research and read a little about each.

How does the FSB come off? Does it just slide off?

The muzzle nut on my current FSB is welded on, does this make a difference?

just tack welds?

Va_AK
Yep, just tack welds

grind em off with a dremel and the nut should come right off as far as gettin the fsb off, you probably are gonna need a hyrdaulic press and a torch

Yep, but IF you need the torch use the heat sparingly. You just want to make the front sight expand, not cherry it out.

Any AK guys in the 757?

Va_AK
right now would be a useful time for those sections I mentioned. I could go right in there and find someone near me

Va_AK

4n0nym0u5_545

Va_AK
No luck.. Might just have to pay someone to do it.

not exact
but you get the idea of what ya need to do

Va_AK
I haven't had the chance to try anything yet, I'm free tomorrow so I'll take the dremel to the muzzle nut..just need to get through that one spot weld right?

4n0nym0u5_545
yup
remember its a reverse thread too
and there will probably be a spring loaded pin you need to push into the front site too...ive heard that some arent even threaded under the nut
take your time with it too. noone like unsightly marks from workin too fast lol
keep posted

Va_AK
haha I'm really hoping that its threaded. I dunno what I'll do if it's not. I didn't get a chance to fiddle with it this past weekend, so hopefully one night this week.

I may just end up only taking the nut off, I'm not sure I feel too comfortable with a torch and press for the FSB.

4n0nym0u5_545
if its not you can buy 14:1 LH thread kits and do it yourself. i donno if itll be proper length for a bayo, but at least youll be able to throw a brake or flash hider on it
