View Thread: Tack weld on PSL muzzle break.......

My 1974 dated PSL has a tack welded break as most do.I also have the plunger still available and would like to remove this tack. Has anyone done this?

I did. Dremel it right off, its soft sodder. If you have a plunger, you have threads.

Look here for photos that may help you.

Unless you have to remove the brake I'd leave the tack there. They're usually a little wobbly on the threads without it.

They are tack welded on the military ones for accuracy to keep them from rattling on the end of the barrel.

Many people use a little teflon tape to index brakes on guns like S-12's I wonder if this would prevent the rattling after your brake or flash hider is reinstalled.

probably one the SVD is one piece with the front sight. If you swap it for one that is not directional, like the SVDs clone that I make or the Nodak, then you can tighten it on until it is snug.
