I did a lot of research trying to find a good optics mount for my Interarms Tantal. With the left-side selector switch, you can't use the typical AK side mount. The Krebs Beryl was too expensive. The DPH Beryl was too inconvienient. The Ultimax required an "iffy" installation. There are no upper handguard mounts available for the wz.88.

I checked out Scout Scopes several times and talked with the company on the phone. Their web site didn't really give enough information about how the mount attached to the rifle. The man on the phone walked me through the process and I ordered a mount. $69 plus shipping.

I received the mount yesterday. It took a total of 15 minutes to attach it to the rifle site via the original rear sight mount. Luckily, I found a trick to getting the original sight ramp off the mount.

This mount is great. It is solid and I can't imagine any way it could possibly move after installation. It mounts extremely low and far lower than a typical AK side mount.

If you have a Tantal and want to mount optics, I highly recommend the Scout Scope mount.

Couldn't fit on previous post.

does this have a back up iron sight of any kind? Does the mount bite into the reciever where those screws are? looks real nice other than that.

There is a sight channel cut into the mount for use if the optics fail. Yes, the set screws contact the receiver, but I don't see that as a problem since the mount will remain in place on the rifle.

Tantal stated on the other AK forum yesterday that he has the design in hand for a reproduction 2-peice Polish side mount which clears the left side selector. He need to confirm some takers before putting in the order. I'm at work right now and that site is blocked, or else I'd post the link.
