German 74

I am kinda new to the 74 world and got a dumb question. I have seen lots of EG 47 and AKM parts floating around, own a lot of them, but not many 74 parts. Did these rifles go to some other country after reunification or were the scraped, stored or what? Just wondering how come out of as many as they must have had not many parts landed on our shores. THanks

IIRC, during the early days after the wall came down, the older AKM/47 rifles and parts that were in storage got sold off for hard cash, probably "unofficially". After things settled down and the reunification efforts became more organised the current issue 74s were turned in to the "West German" government for "disposal" as the "East German" forces got "absorbed". Germany won't sell them on the international market due to UN pressure.

RobertRTG did get some parts, including stocks, muzzle devices, firing pins and assorted other stuff...
