View Thread: Tula 5.45mm Hollow Points

Archivist Dick
Has anyone tried plain white box (twenty count) 60-grainers?

These hollow point cartridges show a headstamp "5,45x39mm" over "TCW."

Red sealant at cartridge mouth and primer pocket.

Brown lacquered case.

Business side of box reads:
CENTERFIRE AMMUNITION
5,45X39mm
L.C.B. 60 GR HP
BERDAN PRIMED
(NON-CORR)
STEEEL CASE

In particular I'm interested - of course - in learning whether or not the "holler points" open up in a spectacular way during terminal ballistic stage, or are these merely cosmetic?

Seems good stuff. Am looking forward to trying 'em out, tho I've only eighty in hand (four boxes). May have to hoard them if they pan out.

I believe it is like the 168g .308 - it is a method of centering the core as the jacket is swaged, and not designed for expansion. Makes for better accuracy

I suspect you have it just right, GunPlumber. Good job.

You will find another string I started about "5,45mm Hunting Ammo." One motive for this was to learn whether or not anyone has purchased or used a soft-point variant or even an effective holler-point. Evidently not.

Guess the less said or written on this subject the better in this day 'n political age.
