I don't know who this dude is or where he is, but this looked pretty cool ( and illegal). Maybe some have seen it.

looks like a replacement for dirt cheap parts and a VERY illegal 3rd hole in the reciever.
seems to me that its only use would be to turn your legal semi into an illegal full auto and not advertise it with a 3rd hole

Totally Legal when the weapon is a registered F/A.
LuzRD
well yeah theres THAT, but i didnt see any benefit over the stock configuration.

The guy points out in the video that the third hole is there. He is just demonstrating the DIAS using that particular rifle. It isn't intended to replace the actual FA parts in a FA rifle. I think the whole concept looks pretty cool myself, and , of course, it would be illegal if one were to posses it with a semi-only AK. I just have never seen a DIAS for an AK, while the ones for the AR are all over the place. I would love to see it out of the rifle. There is always bump fire anyway.

Owning a registered full auto rifle doesn't allow an unregistered DIAS. It may well be registered but not because the rifle is registered.

I figured it wasn't in the US.

The 308 Galil doesn't have a third axis pin. The auto sear is mounted on and pivots on the hammer axis pin. IMI moved the 308 Galil hammer pin so the lock time mimics that of the US M14 for better accuracy. Then IMI modified the disconnector and so the selector positions would be the same S-F-A as the FN FAL and the H&K G3 to help international sales against those rifles. The original barrel length was the same as the full length FAL also. The few military orders for 308 Galils had troops that were already familiar with the 5.56 Galil or the AK and requested that the selector positions be the same as the AK or 5.56 Galil. IMI had to modify the design again to meet the requests but never added the third axis pin. The right bolt rail is notched / slotted for the auto sear but the auto sear is on the hammer pin so the receiver only has two FCG axis pins.

this is a great idea - As a machinegun manufacturer, if I drill the hole in the receiver, the auto sear is married to the receceiver. If it is truly drop in, with no modification to the receiver, then I can register it only , and not marry it to the receiver.
I am tryihng to figure out the pivot point, it appears to be the selector lever axis.
How do I capture individual screen shots?

There is already a similar design DIAS for the AK in the US. It's made from sheet steel. It's tripped by a semi auto bolt carrier so the bolt carrier cam is not required. It does pivot on one of the axis pins, I believe it's the hammer pin. The design in video may use the selector pivot for a second part or just for the return spring.

From the pics it looks like it pivots on the trigger pin not the hammer pin. That's why the hole is so near the bottom.

yep - those still pics make everything clear. Now all I need is the time to try it . ..
