View Thread: Just ordered an M39 (L)

I ordered an M39 last night from gunsnammo.com (Pat Burns). She's an antique (no FFL required) Sako build with 85% original bluing, war-time stock, "mirror bright sharp bore". I've heard these guys are pretty reliable and come highly recommended! My only dilemma now is whether to shoot it or not! (who am I kidding, I'm going to shoot it)
They removed the pic so I'll post one up when I get the rifle, its real purdy though, lots of burling.

very nice. i love mine and can bust clays at 200 with ease! mine looks brand new bore included, minor rust on the bolt when i got it but that's it! they are the most accurate Mosins out there

Congrats! Looks like they have some nice guns up there. How are the M44s treating you. My M44 was pretty accurate at 50yrds and at 100 it was a bit off but still good. Lotta kick for sure.

What kind of ammo are you shooting? Will my Czech copper-washed work well with it?

You're gonna love that 39. They're in a whole nother league than any other mosin.

should work fine, as Czech seems to be some of the better surplus. but ive been usgin Bulgarian 440 round tins, copper washed, lead core.

You wont be disappointed. Assuming the condition is good. Take a look at what Pat has to offer. I've bought several rifles from her. Always professional and courteous. Can't say enough good things about the business she runs.

you will love it, they are tack drives.

One thing when ordering from Pat, BE PATIENT. They update their list of rifles so if you don`t see what you want, just wait a while & there will be more added. Not sure how many they have. The first one I bought was in haste thinking they were running out, wasn`t in the best condition & had a few too many stock plugs. Also they are not an FFL dealer so you can`t send it back to them directly, making exchanges/returns a bit complicated. I sold my first(broke even) & ordered another a while later which I`m happier w/. Good folks to buy from though.

Thanks Fortis, you're right. I'd been watching them for a while and I was particularly interested in getting an antique. They would be bought up pretty fast, but one night they posted about 12 of them and I was able to pick the one I wanted. Hopefully I chose wisely, it should be here any day. That's interesting that they're not an FFL.

Incredible is all I can say. Beautiful rifle. The patina on the steel is magnificent. Bluing is a nice plumb color. I disassembled the rifle to clean it, and once I got it apart I looked it over and then reassembled without doing anything, thanks to Pat for sending a rifle in truly "ready to shoot" shape (they don't advertise this so your mileage may vary). The muzzle is very tight and the bore is shiny-bright just as advertised. The heavier barrel, tight fit, and overall balance tell me this is going to be shooting joy.
+10 for Pat Burns!
