View Thread: My "krinkov" build dilemma.

Somewhat long winded so bear with me please.

I have the parts to put together a short 7.62x39 Bulgarian sidefolder with the 4 piece flash reducer. Problem is; I haven't had the opportunity to fondle a shorty sidefolder. I have handled a Yugo M92 and I like the compact package of it. It appears to me that the sidefolder would be a bit bulkier. From what I've been told, Bulgaria never made a production "krinkov" in 7.62 with a sidefolder. The sidefolders were 5.45 or 5.56?! Supposedly all 7.62 "krinkov's" were stamped or milled underfolders. Can anyone confirm this? The reason I ask is that I have an underfolder stock (Hungarian/Polish) but no trunnion and I'd like to make my kit as accurate as possible to what Bulgaria actually produced for the troops. I've thought about buying a 5.45 or 5.56 barrel and keeping the sidefolder but I've decided to favor the 7.62x39 cartridge with the proper underfolder?!. Hence, my dilemma! Any words of wisdom?

I had an original factory Bulgarian Krink in 7.62x39 and it had a milled receiver with underfolding stock. This was a post sample of course. I just got in the book "The grim reaper" and will double check with the chapter on bulgarian guns. If memory serves me, they did not make a krink in 7.62x39 with a side folding stock. They made the AKSU 74 in 5.45mm with the side folder. I was hoping to catch a picture of the krink I once owned but most of the pictures of the bulgarian krinks were chambered for the 5.45mm round.

Years have gone by and now I want to convert a registered receiver chinese AK47 into a bulgarian krink. It took a while to find a complete factory bulgarian kit in 7.62x39 but it came with a side folder kit. Though the underfolder may be more correct, the side folder looks and feels better shooting the gun.

I will research more and try to get some accurate info.

Good luck.
