View Thread: Tantal Optics

Hi, I'm new. This site is a wealth of information and I'm glad I found it.

I restored a Saiga 7.62 that came out very well. But, the more I read, the more I realized I wanted a 5.45. Everything I read about the Tantal was good. I sold my Saiga, and found a very nice Interarms Tantal built on a Nodak receiver. I fired it for the first time last Saturday, and I am very pleased with the rifle. With that said, I need optics. Preferably an Eotech. As you all know, there is no mount on the Tantal. As far as I have researched there are 3 alternatives:

1.) A beryl type mount
2.) An Ultimak mount
3.) The Larue Iron Dot

Do any of you have experience with any of the mount systems listed above? I understand the Ultimak will require some work, but I'm not sure how much. I have been told the Larue sight is back ordered by months. I will use the beryl type if that is my only option, but it is not my first choice.

Any suggestions.

I had the first gen beryl mount(no quick release) and had problems with zero shift. I would get the Larue. Can't go wrong with them and they co-witness.

I called LaRue this morning. I was ready to order. Delivery is at least 4 months out.
