If you have one, what kind of HP ammo works best?

I use Federal "Critical Defense". It feeds like ball ammo, but is very expensive right now.

The FBI's most recent test found that in 380 FMJ's scored higher than JHP's. There is one brand of FMJ that is a bit hotter than others. There is also Winchester Ranger 380 JHP if you can find it. The 95 grain bullets do better than the 90 grain bullets. The FBI test does give a higher score for penetration than expansion.

Unlike the rest of the Winchester Ranger handgun cartridge line the 380 Ranger is the exact same cartridge as the 95 grain SXT. The Rangers are usually sold in bulk to police departments and dealers in 50 round boxes and the SXT usually comes in 20 round boxes.

I also use the Hornady critical defense.
