I just got the email this morning as well. I wonder if K-var has an exclusive with them, or if they'll show up at other vendors eventually.... ($1095 seems a bit steep....).

I had one ordered for me today. I will post a review when it comes (probably next week). I hear they will have sidefolders available soon. Thx-Ace

I recieved my Saiga SLR31 today. Here is my review.

The rifle appears to be pretty much correct as a semi auto AK74 and follows as described in the writeup at K-Var and Arsenal. Below are some details and notable features.

The butstock, pistol grip, and handguards are all std K-var/Arsenal US black WARSAW units and look fine. The trigger group is also Arsenal but the pull is VERY hard (much more than my other Arsenal guns). The trigger must be fixed or I will not get good groups from the rifle.

The reciever is nice. The rail is installed straight. The dimples are good. It has the 'extra' rivet on the left side like my SGL20. The reciever is marked '09'. The firing pin is floating. I think the bullet guide is correct.

The rear sight block shows some machining marks but otherwise appears fine. The gas piston is the smooth type (like my SGL20 it has no 'rings'). The gas block is chrome lined, has the accessory lug and has no noticeable marks on the pins (I think it came in with the gas block installed). I don't think the bbl is chrome lined. The front sight looks right and is marked 24-3.

Overall I am very happy with the rifle (I have wanted a russian 74 for some time) but the trigger must be fixed. I will post some images soon.

Thx-Ace

Very interesting, thanks for the write-up. I was interested in that FCG. It seems they are assembling them with the arsenal double-stage trigger.

I discovered a large part of the trigger problem. The hammer pin was not installed correctly. Aparently they did not get the shepards hood over the grove on the pin and it slipped out partially (as they allways seem to do when they are loose). This made the trigger difficult to work. It is useable now (much better) but still too heavy. The trigger group is an Arsenal two stage, which I normally like.

Images are availabe in this link. I will try to get better ones later.

A grand for an AK? :huh_small For that price I think I would get a Springfield SOCOM Scout M1A.

Saleen
A grand is steep, but I don't think you can find a Scout of SOCOM for that price anywhere unless it's stolen. Even then probably not.....
