How many mags?

Just out of curiosity.. im wondering how many mags do you guys own? how many is enough? are you still buying mags? Are you a frequent shooter, or more of a collector?


I dont know what it is about mags but i cant seem to get enough! I have about 20 or so amongst 4 rifles...and im still wanting more.. what gives? :o

30 is a good number.

I say 8 to 10 for each rifle,and 5 for each pistol,depending on your budget.

Two things you can never have enough of:

Mags
ammo


10 is a good start
Plan to carry at least 6+1 in rifle
Replacements are sure nice.

Get what you can and add when you can

Speaking of, I just bought 4 more PSL mags ,and I'm on a budget,just do what you can, a little at a time if need be .Just remember mags and ammo are made for each other,you have to find the balance within your means.

I buy all I can afford when they are cheap. Got in on the HK G3 mags @ $1 each in 50 packs. Should have gotten more. Will I use them all, probably not. OTOH when they get back up to $30 each I may just sell a few.

Saw someone say 10... Good number IMO... 10 PER!!! weapon regardless of variety... If you have 3 ARs, you need AT LEAST 30 mags(more the better)..... 5 AKs, 50 AK mags... etc etc etc etc...

Ive got a stable of AK-74s and IMHO, these rifles have the coolest mags out there. Lots of different materials, colors, etc to choose from. Im wanting some morlot 45 round mags but im having a hard time spending 75-100 bucks for a single mag when i can buy 4 30 rounders for around the same price.

I think it was Aim Surplus had slab side AK74 mags for $19.95 each. Several colors and points of origin.

i think id have to agree with you there.

i ordered up another set of 'em from aim!!!

I just picked up 3 chicom 30's, 3 hunky 20's, and a Maadi 30 from Cope's. Brings the total to 20.

Rguns actually has a nice selection of AK-74 mags right now.

23 and 1 drum

8 mags per rifle, plus 4 spares each. Of course, life being what it is, I've ended up with a bit more than that. Still, one can never have too many magazines.

the 5,45 bakelite molot 45rd mags are calling my name.

I would agree at 10 per...but don't bring up the subject...cause I need 30 rd 5.56 Norinco mags right now! :mad_small :cry_small

I got into a deal on Bulgarian 30 round AK mags. A guy had a whole garage full of them and when the infamous "Assault Weapon" bill died, his investment went poof! So how many did I buy at $6 or $8 apiece? A buttload!

The only problem now is finding bullets to fill them!

Well I just picked up 2 more 30 rd ak mags.A little at a time adds up.

yeah, its easy to spend alot of money on mags these days..

i ended up getting the molot RPK-74 mag... figured i needed at least one.

Buy 'em cheap and stack 'em deep.

Store in a cool dry location;)

I need to get some more AKM and 74 mags.... I have almost hit critical mass on AR mags(for the SIG 556s)... And have a new cource for these babies, CHEAP!!!!! Need some more FAL mags too...

Got some bad news.

My 45rd bakelite mag just arrived. It looks brand new, but its bulgarian. It has an empty disc on the right side instead of the molot arsenal marking.

It was advertised as being "Russian 45 Round Bakelite AK-74 5.45x39mm Magazine"

(12) 100rd drums, about +/- 100 30rd mags for (2) ak's.

I can comfortably carry 8 loaded 100rd drums around on me for 'fun'.

I bought everything when it was affordable and held onto it.

Oh, and about 45 mags for my AR too!

7 minimum, 10-11 recomended. When you get to 10 make sure you have enough ammo to fill each 2-3 times. Then buy more as you can afford them. This is for each rifle- 4 AKM's=40 mags. Plus you always have to have some "special mags" such as 40/45 rounders, drums and any others you may not want to use as "regular" shooters

You need to buy a Krink to put mag in now!:) Just tell your wife you just have to get one.

I think I'm at right around 15.. plenty of standard steel and poly mags, and then a few others that I just like.

but i know, i had a bulgy AKS-74U krink kit but i had to let it go..i just needed the money too bad.. tough times over here. I had to dig pretty deep for that 45 rd mag. but damn it i really wanted one!

I do 10 per rifle, I have a lot of AR mags, but I am still short of my goal.
