The above is from AK builder who I got some flats from and bent a while back. I thought the AK 74 had to use a different flat because the mag well was smaller? They talk like its the same? I am getting ready to order an AK-74 kits so maybe I can use the extra reciever I have from the above source? Someone please help me, I no longer have access to a flat bender and was going to get one from Cold steal Solutions. Thanks

That sounds like a Tapco flat, they have a sort of "universal" magwell in that it is too small for both the 7.62 and the 5.45 mags. You have to open it up a bit to fit either mag. The ejector on the rail is sized for the 5.45 and must be trimmed to fit the 7.62.

AKBuilder's flats are usually available with either size magwell pre-cut to final dimensions. You might need to fine tune an edge here or there but they are pretty close.

Thanks, I saw in a year old issue of SGN that OOW was selling papered recievers back then that did both also. Just trying to get all my ducks in a row before taking the 74 plunge!
