View Thread: FA trigger groups

I hope this is in the right place, but if not, feel free to move...
I have a lot of FA AK47/74 trigger groups from various countries, and have been thinking of offering them for sale. But, I don't know if there are any legal stipulations on doing so. I know that if a person can provide a copy of their SOT then they're good to go, but are there any laws on the books regulating the sale of these parts?

AK FA groups are just steel parts, no restrictions on a federal level. Some states like WA prohibit FA parts so it's illegal to ship them there.
That said, most builders replace their original FCGs with US made ones for 922(r) compliance and already have several with no need for any more. Pistol builds don't need compliance parts so they are useful in that situation. No legitimate use for the autosear outside a legal FA in any case.

I had bins of them on the table for $1 each. sold very few. Finally sold them to another vendor for $0.20 each. Just glad to get rid oif 50# of crap.
But then on a whim, I refinished a few sets and added the pins and springs and put them up as sets for $25. Sold all 10 sets in a day.
Bizarre. seems to be more about the packaging. The first time they were just loose in bins. The second time, I had a warning notice on them identifying them as full auto parts illegal to install in your AK. I think people bought them because of the warning label.

That sounds about right. Even if you do nothing with them, it's worth it to some people just for the feeling that they're "getting away with something." Although, I wouldn't want to be the one to test the waters by having a FA FCG and an AK in the same building (without an SOT). Seems like it would be pretty easy for the alphabet guys to define that as "intent"...

It takes a lot more than that to get in trouble (except in WA).

put em up on gunbroker, plenty of idiots over there

Took 3 sets of parts to find the pieces that liked each other in our WASR FA conversion. Runs fine now.
Trouble is, we've been trying to engineer something that holds an eotech without welding or getting in the way of disassembly. Already removed the riveted side mount to do the drilling...

One of each.. An Auto Sear $20, Auto Sear spring $15, Auto hammer $25, Rate reducer with-out the spring $45, and $55 with the spring.
That's 125.48 Tax already included with Rate reducer spring.. WTF!!!
And I've seen people buy them up!! :rofl_smal

Maybe I should raise the price! I had the sets with all springs and pins for $30 - maybe $99.95 and call them "rare"

Damn, I've thrown away at least 15-20 sets. maybe I should reconsider tossing them in the future.

So.... Any of you guys still have any of those old parts laying around that you would like to sell cheap? What do you have and how much? I'm looking for FA replacement parts only.

Took us 3 sets of parts to find one set of pieces that liked each other enough to function FA. The set has worked flawlessly, though... sorry about the price of ammo keeping them from working a whole lot lately.

So its illegal to have a FA parts kit for an AK and an AK in the same building?

Nope.
You can have all the FA AK parts you want, so long as none of them are FA AK receivers.
. . unless you're in Washington state.
If the revenuers want to get you for intent, most any red-blooded American man has enough tools in his garage to give'em what they want.
Can we stop dragging the bugaboo of "intent" out of the closet every time this topic comes up?

Why the unless your in Washington? I know f/a is a no go here but you can't even have the parts out of a kit or pieces?

WA has a law that states ANY part used in a machine gun is illegal.
Hence, the Romanian trigger, hammer and disconnecter are illegal there.

Thanks nalioth, the great Northwest aint so great all of the time....
Legal to own a suppressor but not to fire thru it? Why oh why.
