View Thread: NJ Laws?

From what I understand, if it says "AK" in NJ, its no good. How about a home build with a flat receiver kit? Does that sidestep the rules? Haven't had much luck asking real gun rules at the cop shop.
thanks

Even hollow point bullets are a Felony in New Jersey. Their State Police Uniforms look very authoritarian too.

NUMBER ONE ... and most important ... GET YOUR REAR END OUTTA NEW JERKY AS FAST AS YOU CAN.

Number 2. Certain AK's WERE LEGAL when I was living there.

I bought a MAC 90 "Sporter" (with thumbhole stock) from SARCO 5 or 6 years ago. If memory serves me correctly ROMAKS with single stack mags were legal as well ... I remember seeing them at SARCO too.

A big problem with semi auto "assault guns" in the Garbage State is hi-cap mags. For example, my MAC 90 came with three 5 round mags; my AR15 and Springfield M1A were both LEGAL BUT ... with 5 round mags.

Some semi-auto's are just a flat No-no. My M1 CARBINE was VERY illegal.

I never could keep track of which SKS I could take the bayonette off of ... and which one I had to leave on.

I do not recall hollow nosed bullets being illegal ... some ranges (The old English Town Range) used to insist that you use them and would NOT allow you to shoot ball ammo. Range 14 at Fort Dix didn't seem to care.

However ... I DO know that the mighty Wrist Rocket Slingshot ... IS a felony bust.

That being said ...GET OUT WHILE YOU CAN!!!!!

Made some inquiries and it doesn't look good for making one here. Not worth the potential legal grief. Guess I'll wait til I retire and move to a more gun friendly state. Thanks.
By the way, hollowpoints aren't illegal unless you use them in a crime, from what I read.

From what I have heard about NJ aK builds is this.

1. No home bent or 80% flats, build on a transfered 100% reciver (NODAK SPUD)
2. No flash hider, use the slant break or a plain muzzle nut that is PERMANTLY attached (welded)
3. Nuter the bayo lug untill it is just a cleaning rod holder.
4. No hi cap mags (15 max)
5. five compliant parts (muzzle device is now part of barrel)
