Quick M1911 Question..........

Wondering what the slide options are for a full size 1911 frame. Can you put a commander or officer length slide on a full size frame (without serious modification?) Would like to keep the total length down, but not go the compact frame route.

A commander slide will fit, but the dustcover of the full size frame will extend farther forward than the cut on the slide. Looks weird unless you cut it back a little bit.

Been many a Yaron since I messed with an OM, but they can be installed on a full size frame. I just don't remember if it takes major frame mods or not. Auto Ordnance used to make one like that, Pit Bull IIRC.

my brother built one like that. i don't think he made any major mods. it was tight, it wouldn't fully cycle with a buffer installed but shoots fine otherwise.
