US MADE 91/30 MOSIN NAGANT RIFLES???

Was reading my new issue of Guns & Ammo and there is an article about the Mosin 91/30.It states that Russia contracted Remington and Westinghouse to manufacture the 91/30 here in the US.It said most of the rifles were never delivered to Russia because of a revolution but were used to train US forces.Anyone have more info on these rifles?Thanks,td

I saw one! The rifle was made right here in the US.
They were never sent to Russia because the commies revolted and pulled out of the war. The N.R.A. sold them for five bucks each to it's members and also supplied ammo to practice with.
The N.R.A. also sold M1 carbines for 25 bucks each to it's members.
Now the N.R.A. sells snake oil and Chinese made junk.

They are model 1891's not 91/30's. They have the hex receiver.

Saw a Remington at the big show in Louisville, KY. this winter. I think the guy wanted $450.00 which I thought was a damned good price being that the first one I saw was going for $600.00. The fellow told me that the $450.00 is pretty much the going rate. I would like to own one some day.

I had a Westinghouse 1891 rifle and really enjoyed hanging it on the wall. I bought it from a friend for $100. About a year later, he asked me to sell it back to him so he offered me $150 and he owned it again.

In short, they do exist and if you remove the hype, they can still be purchased for a reasonable price.
