View Thread: SKS folding stock?
Redneck
I have a legal question from California. Chote makes a really nice folding stock with a pistol grip for the SKS. Would it be legal to use this stock on an SKS with a fixed 10 round mag?
Thanks Dave

I might be wrong, but I believe no folders of any kind in Kalifornia
I could be wrong, but doubt I am.

Thanks for the website info. After reading the website it appears that installing the folding stock would be legal due to the fact that the weapon has a 10 round non-detachable mag. I can’t believe the bullshit laws these leftwing ass holes come up with! I can’t wait to get the hell out of this state. It’s a shame, this is a beautiful state, great weather and it’s not hard to knock down a descent living here. But it’s like living under communist rule. Can’t wait to get back to Texas.

overall length has to be 30" folded. 922r applies.(this is true nationwide) the us parts are why most avoid this. if you need to install an extension to make 30", it need not be permanant. NO YUGO GRENADE SPIGOT!! obviously, make sure it's off list.
by installing a non factory stock you take the sks out of:
1. sporting (fed.)
2.featureless (ca)
welcome to the prk. our state motto, "come on vacation, leave on probation".

Just when I thought I had it figured out. With this folding-stock installed the overall length will be a little over 31 inches when it’s in the folded position. Where will this leave me legally with the bullshit laws in California? One more thing a little off subject. I just found out that starting in 2012 I’ll have to start getting my Harley Davidson’s smog tested every other year in this golden shower state.
Thanks Dave

31">30" so you're cool. i don't remember how many u.s. parts an sks needs.
a few important points=
there is one sks on the "list", be sure it aint yours.
NEVER install a detachable magazine or fixed mag >10rds.
yugos need the grenade goodies removed.
there have been several threads on calguns about this very issue. i'll see if i can find one later and post a link.

Thanks Motorhead. I’ve been poking around on calguns also. I have a few legal ak's that would fill the bill of any unknown circumstance that might come way. I think I’ll just keep the sks in its original configuration shoot it and appreciate for what it is. Thank again for your knowledge and help researching this info for me.
