http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/ii110/KEVAKOV/100_0879.jpg I have a chance to buy this RPK 74, its a parts kit with a Bulgarian receiver, plum furniture, plum mag is Russian, bird cage flash, bipod, its a new and fresh build with scope, can anyone tell me what its worth? Thanks.

It doesn't have an RPK-74 trunnion. The trunnion might be a 22mm Bulgarian AK-74 or it might be a 23mm Romanian 6.56 trunnion , which case check the bolt to see what type of bolt it has. A short lug Romanian, long lug Bulgarian or maybe a Bulgarian 5.56 short lug opened up to tke 5.45 cartridge. The rifle is a a mix of parts whatever it is. The original RPK-74 barrel is 23mm at the trunnion.

to much of a mix, I wouldn't give no more than 700.00 if that. It as already said has the wrong trunnion, plus other possible mixed parts.

I found out today that this was made from a new part kit , not one that was all shot out, would that up the price on this RPK? Are RPK receivers 1 mm or 1.5 mm thick like a PSL or FPK.

The RPK-74 kits don't have the front trunnion and that one has at least the wrong trunnion and the wrong receiver. The RPK-74 has a 23mm barrel. The RPK-74 bolt will not fit a 7.62x39 bullet guide. That rifle is made of a mix parts !!!!!

That could be the correct bbl trunion that has been milled down to fit a std reciever. I have seen Yugo bbl trunions (bulged like an RPK) milled down to fit a std reciever. Thx-Ace

The RPK-74 kits don't have trunnions with them and there isn't a source for them. Some people machine 7.62x39 RPK trunnions for the 5.45 bolt but it's a lot of work the person needs to know what they are doing. Now the standard Bulgarian 5.45 AK-74 trunnion is 22mm, the RPK-74 barrels are 23mm. This adds even more work. Either the barrel or trunnion need machining or a Romanian 5.45 trunnion is 23mm but will not take a Bulgarian 5.45 without requiring machining and fitting. With available parts the kit was assembled with mixed parts.

The 5 RPK74 kits I have had and built mine from one of them all had trunions come with them . Military guy supply sells them ,Apex ,ORF. All have trunions .
It could be made from a kit with milled down trunion .There was a manufacturer doing this back before NDS was even around . They were using OOW receivers . One just like this sold on gunbroker a few weeks back for 1200.00 .In my oppinion its too much for what it is . Worth more than 700.00 but not 1200.00 .
Only place I could find that still had kits . http://rapidfire.targetweb.net/cgi-bin/store/agora.cgi/agora.cgi?cart_id=7310876.32341*BP0ML7&p_id=02054&xm=on&ppinc=big

I doubt it's a machined RPK-74 trunnion. That would require a different straight receiver width and most of all to change the rivet pattern the inside of the trunnion would require machining to allow the barrel to clear the new rivet locations. Now it might have been a machining RPK-74 if it had the RPK rivet pattern but for all the work for width and rivets a proper RPK receiver could be found. The overpriced ORF kits are demilled kits with trunnions but most RPK-74 kits do not have trunnions and no spares are around.

Tell me where these reasonable RPK kits are please. I paid 900 for mine almost 2 years ago . Only KVAR sold parts without trunions and they were virgin without numbers . Its easy to get a standard bulgarian trunion to work . And as easy to machine it down without using a wider receiver??? They have been machined down to firt standard receivers . I agree about the rivet placement though And how are you so sure its not matching ,the poster said its matching numbers ?I would guess maybe matching except for the trunion . I have a feeling you need to be right here for what ever reason . Best of luck to you ... :wink_smal

I bought two complete barrels with all of the barrel parts on them, they weren't K-var parts and i didn't get any other parts. I used a 5.45 Vepr as a donor for trunnion and parts. I sold the other barrel the guy built it using a modified 7.62 RPK trunnion
The easiest way to use an AK-74 trunnion is to turn down the barrel from 23mm to 22mm. The Romanian 5.45 trunnion is 23mm but the barrel has to be moved back and the Romanian bolt or a heavily modified Bulgarian bolt might fit. I have seen it, not sure I'd trust the bolt. With the back either top cover needs shortening or the rear sight block moved forward and shorten the gas tube and lower handguard. That may still throw off other things. Machining a 7.62 RPK trunnion for the 5.45 bolt is easier than all of that and can use a proper RPK-74 receiver.

did the op say if the numbers on the trunnion match the bolt and carrier? i know hesse grounded down some rpk trunnions and then welded the trunnion to receiver.
