View Thread: Yugo M72 RPK, scope question

I've got a Yugo M72 RPK, heavy barrel.
I wanted to get your opinions and recommendations on a scope for it.

I bought a Scout scope mount; which mounts in place of the rear sight (nice, quality piece by the way). I was looking at alot of scopes and their specs.
The typical rifle scope has anywhere from 2.5" to 4" of eye relief. I know the pistol scopes out there have much broader eye relief distances; but I would much rather have a rifle scope.

I wish the receiver had the mounting rail on it, but it doesn't. I don't want to start drilling and tapping the receiver.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Some of the red dot scopes work that far away. It might take some shopping around fo a regular scope with that much eye relief.

For an expensive one or to compare other scopes look at the Leupold FX-II 2.5x IER scout scope. There is also the M8-2.5x28mm IER Scout with the same 9 to 17 inch eye relief.

I got a scout scope mount too. Bought a leupold 3-9x40 installed it and eye relief is pretty good from shooting position. Gonna try it out this weekend.
