I have a WASR with the factory stock. Not only is the stock too short, but there is no cheek rest. The open sights are usable, but when I affix the scope I have a hard time hitting with it because there is no repeatable reference since I have to raise my cheek away from the stock to sight down the scope. I also shoot left handed. Does anyone else have this problem, and how did you fix it?

sounds like you need a cheek rest? They sell em..... or ya could just tape, screw, or paracord a slice of rubber onto it.

You could get a decent red dot for it, like an older aimpoint, and then as long as you have it sighted in off a rest, then later as long as you see the dot that's where the boolits go...

You do not state what scope or mount you are using. There are dozens of scope and mount variations for the AKM receiver rails/base. Some/most sit the scope pretty high to allow receiver cover removal and use of the iron sights. There are low mount types available as well.

I'm leaning towards new furniture, with an extended LOP, and maybe a cheek piece too. Any suggestions?

What type of scope is it?

Curren it's a tly, it's not a scope but a red dot. Specifically, it's a BEC Inc. SP-5. I'm not very happy with it and I'll most likely change to something else, but even open sighted the pull is too short. Those third world/commie guys must be really small.

Isn't the KVAR stuff supposed to be long-stocked?
