View Thread: SIG P225 Questions???

Anyone own a Sig P225 9mm pistola?

Looking for reviews: fit and feel, , concealable, reliability, accuracy, etc...

I know the other Sig pistols are well made, just wondering about this surplus lot of old West German pistols.

What say you?

I used to carry a P-225 before the hi cap craze. I sold it when I moved and went to hi cap pistols. The P-225 is better than any of them. Some are a bit picky about hollow points. The frame is aluminum and the slide is stamped. I wouldn't use super hot ammo in one. Short hollow points can be an issue. Remington hollow points feed best. The P-225 has just the right weight and size. The magazine capacity is plenty for a handgun. If you need more ammo a handgun was the wrong weapon in the first place. I like the long trigger pull and no safety to worry about switching. If I find a deal on another P-225 I'll replace my Glock with it.

J&G has 'em for $370, and you can get more mags from AIM for $18 (ProMag not factory). I'm not really sure if that is a good price, but seems reasonable.

I assume they are real slim because of the single stack mag.

Thought they might be good as a conceal carry gun.

I wish they did better with hollow points than you indicate.

Can you find replacement parts for these?

I checked out the Sig website, they still sell factory mags for $50 a pop.

Parts aren't hard to find. Not as easy as Glock parts and they are expensive but not rare. Trigger parts sometimes need care. Some will feed hollow points alright but don't count on it. Remington hollow points feed like FMJ's. Don't waste money on Pro Mags !!! I have seen original mags at gun shows. There were two good versions of magazines. Original and contract for Sig.

The P225/P6's are very accurate, just single stack. Parts can be hard to find. Don't mess with Promags use the factory mags instead.
