View Thread: where to get new PK-A?

Kalinka doesn't have it anymore...

I was hoping to get the newest PK-A with the red IR beam. anyone know where i can pick one up?

I'm also looking for one. Good Optics has them on their site http://goodoptics.com/good/36. But I am unfamiliar with that company.

Eastwave may have the new PK-A. They show a picture of the old PK-A on their site. http://www.eastwave.ca/products/scopes/pka.html . I sent an e-mail to Dimtry today asking about the new PK-A. I'll let you know what I find out.

thanks!

Has anyone here ever ordered from Eastwave?

I can't believe I've never heard of them....

I was thinking about getting one too...how do they stack up against the Kobra? I know everyone thinks the PK-AS is the best, but the damn thing is too high and just plain ugly.

I was looking for the black colored scope (the new version as far as I know). hence the references to scope color in his response.

Here is the response from Dimitry,

"Regarding the color and mounts ,
It is not older or newer models.
These scopes are manufactured for military purposes and the color and mount
may be different depending on a last large order but it still the same model.
Usually, the manufacturer does not produce them for retail purposes but only
if they have a bulk order from the forces. The last party of this scopes was black ( sold the last one yesterday ) , we expect to get the new party next week Tuesday or Wednesday ( it is on the way from the manufacturer ) and only after that will know for sure the color and the mount.

Regards
Dmitry"

So I'll send another e-mail to him later next week. I'll ask about the laser attachment.

I just received a bare bones PK-A from them , maybe 2 weeks ago. It has more of a silver color. It does hot have the extra laser.
Mine came straight from Belarus. Apparently there was a QA problem with some, so Dmitry said he was expecting a new shipment. (In other words, mine took over a month to get here after i mailed payment. That's really not bad for out of country/ Overseas.)
One thing i really liek about Eastwave, when you email them , they typically respond pretty fast.

The PKA is a decent optic but there are better options like the PK-23 that are actaully more modern then the PKA. The PKA is a bit heavy and bulky for a simple red dot.

Here is Dimitry's (Eastwave) description of his latest inventory of the PK-A:

"Anyway PK-A scope has a grey color and a short universal AK/SKS mount."

He made no mention of a laser. Sounds like he has the older design.

All the PKAs are of an "older design", they're actually quite outdated as far as red dot technology go. They work fine but as I said before the PK23 is a giant leap forward and it centers over the bore.

The thing with Over the bore red dots, is that you CANT use the Iron sights as back-up. I personally Like the off-center Russian style Scopes, they are very cool once you get used to them, and I think they make you faster, especially if you are left eye dominant, which I am not, but I still like it.
Anyhow, I REALLY like the older grey colour version, especially if you are mounting it on an 80's clone AK74, it is more accurate of a reenactment.
The thing is, Ive NEVER seen a pic of a russian soldier using a PK-a, old or new style. And about the cobra, Ive only seen one pic of a soldier using one.
The 1p29 seems to be the most widely issued day time optic, that was used on AK74 rifles...
There is a belorussian copy, the UPO-2-1, but I dont know how the quality is. It is a copy of the SUIT scope...

What's FMV on one? I just got one from the estate of a collector in Europe and it's slightly different then the ones I've seen here, but it looks just to be a cosmetic difference.

all the scopes below are for sale

Could you please explain why you think the PK-23 is a "giant leap forward"? I know the PK-23 is lighter and less bulky, but the collimator technology doesn't appear to be substantially different (aside from the PK-23's flickering function).

I found this out the hard way after buying two PK-ASVs. I think the standard PK-AS is off center and allows for use of the iron sights but the idea ofn optic to the side of center bore seems odd. Now that their discontinued though, I'll probably never get to try one out.

Isn't there a new Russian red dot that co-witnesses with the iron sights?

kethcar
so the PK-AS at eastwave is the offset model? It sounds like i would actully prefer the offset.

To my understanding, the PK-AS is the offset mount (to the left) and the PK-ASV is center bore. The PK-01 co-witnesses with the iron sights and is currently to only one of these three available from Eastwave.

i see, im still in the early stages of researching my next scope..kinda overwhelming. theres alot of stuff out there.

I like what i hear about the PK-AS so far!

Kalinka just got a bunch in. Check back with them on the PK-A series and others.
