Information is what I'm after. For your info, yes, while Federal AWB did sunset, there are parts of the country that had their own version of the AWB on the State level. New York State for example. Their AWB which mirrored the Fed. ban did not have a sunset clause. So possession of post-ban hi-cap mags (and firearms with evil features) would be illegal on the State level. Sure, if one were to be charged with the crime of possession, one would seek to challenge that against the Federal laws which theoretically supersede State laws - but I would rather avoid all that "fun," thank you very much.
So the question remains, are Yugoslavian BHO prebans? Does anyone have info on when they began to be imported or when they stopped?
I know that by the time the Yugo wars started in '91-92 that parts like Slovenia, Croatia and Bosnia were manufacturing their own mags with different ribs. And I doubt very much that the US was allowing the import of Serbian made arms while we were bombing the Hell out of it. Just wondering if anyone has given it some serious thought.
Enlightened yet? You don't live in a vacuum, dude. Thanks.

All communist milspec steel AK-47/AKM mags are preban. Yes, all of 'em.
". . but, but. but [insert vendor here] just got a container load of brand new ones!!!!"
The commies have millions of these in storage, new and unmolested since they were made decades ago. Provided no future legislation prevents it, we'll be seeing "new" AK-47/AKM mags for years to come. . .

Thanks nalioth,
I thought my "math" was correct. I had seen various discussions elsewhere that most of these were made in the 70's/80's. By the 90's and beyond, production was moving towards polymer mags as was a shift in cartridge ideology and the AK-74 and derivatives.
As far as the "new Yugo" mags coming in. I have heard different things about these, either that they were imported Chinese mags to parts of former Yugoslavia (Bosnia perhaps) and then shipped to the States. Or were mags made in the former Yugo on Chinese factory equipment. We know that Yugo/Chinese relations were strong shortly before the war. These "new Yugo" mags have neither the same body shape/ribs nor the proper functioning BHO follower.
Thanks for your response.

You strike me as a classic example of one of those Internet Keyboard Warrior Know-it-alls who doesn't really know much of anything, but prides himself in getting into shit slinging matches with random unknown people in a vain effort to justify his own meager existence.
You needed to know ALL the facts? Why because simple deductive reasoning is beyond the limitations of your cognitive abilities? The question was simple, "Are Yugo BHO mags preban?" WHY I'm asking, my location or anything else is of no particular importance to the question and is unnecessary other than to satisfy your inane sensibilities.
"Mags are not dated... so it doesn't matter." Again, your theory is flawed. The powers that be often look at design features, production method and other variables to date mags. You didn't know that? Obviously. It DOES matter. Maybe not to a lucky guy like you. But it matters at a lot of other people on the State and City level as far as legality is concerned throughout the country and not just New York and California. Say that the preban doesn't effect you or that you don't care and I will respect you a lot more than you stirring shit up.
So while I will routinely pull my head out of my ass and come up for air, it's painfully clear that your head remains firmly and permanently wedged up your ARSE.
You obviously have no valuable discourse to offer so I would politely ask you to take your argumentative baiting arguments elsewhere and troll someone else. I have neither the time nor patience to continue to "enlighten" you.

the way our law works in the prk is mag have to be in your possession before our ban went into effect. sooo, this only excludes mags that were not in manufacture at that time (XD for example). NOW we can obtain full mags, disassembled, as parts kits so we can "repair" our prebans. assembly into working magazines is of course illegal.
technique
anyway you look at it...the burden of proof is on the state. I have been going to school in Ca for the last 6 years (yeah I know I should have been done 2 years ago.) Mags over 10 rounds can not be imported, bought, sold, MFG'd, borrowed after the 2000 ban. If you have owned mags prior to 2000 that are 10+, you are free to possess them. Say for example you have a 30rnd GI mag, you order a P-mag kit (kit=mag disassembled) and you rebuild that GI into a P-mag....so long as you end up with the same amount of mags you started with in 2000 (crush your old mag body) you are legal. Yes P-mags have a date stamp, but thats irrelevant!
Bottom line....its not the mag thats going to get you in trouble, its what comes out of your mouth that could get you in trouble.

in ca posession is not a crime. BTW, the mags in question had to be IN the state at that time. ergo, if you've only been here 6 yrs...
you can't sell or give away (except as parts kits).
to the op, all metal euros would be pre(FED) ban. beware of the plastic "LE ONLY" ones as that stamp came about with the fed ban. i don't think your state allows repair parts.

FYI-the new cheapo mags and drums coming out of s. korea will not qualify as preban. probably not a big deal since i've been told they don't much qualify as mags either.
the plastic crapcos likewise, since production began long after the ban.

I wonder if Molot 40 rounders are pre-ban?

If it's military issue, it's preban.
The South Koreans have never issued an AK - their mags are not pre-ban.
Made in Russia? - preban
Made in China? - preban
Made in Romania? - preban
Made in Bulgaria? - preban
Made in Egypt? - preban
Made in any other former USSR satellite? - preban

Yeah, that puzzled me at first, the "repair kit" $1 more than just buying the mag itself, until the reason for it dawned on me :D The reality is you kitters gotta take back your states, or consider moving to the states that never went along with this nonsense in the first place. Leave "utopia" states to discover what happens when the last productive people leave and turn out the lights.

nah! been here 53 years. i'm taking mine back. look how well our awb worked. or the hicap ban for that matter. it would help if more vendors would ship disassembled like copes. what we're doing is using the (retarded) language of the law against them. i love to gloat when they whine and snivel over the "spirit" of the law. LMWAO, the judges who rule in our favor must not have the spirit.

Forgive me! I live in a Free State, and all this esoteric discussion of mag dates, markings, origins, colors, and flavors pleasing to Marxist trolls ruling the Collective States is shocking! Madness! Please, Brothers...those living in occupied Collective States like New York and California, MOVE to be with us in the Free States! Wyoming, Idaho, Montana, Florida, Alabama, on and on...the FREE States. Please join us, and see how bizarre discussions are about mags that trolls deign to "allow" you to have. For now, at that. We want you to be free, and to add to our ranks lest the trolls outnumber us in OUR states!
