View Thread: Dust cover mount

Shizzlore
Hey everyone,

A while back, I saw an NCstar dust cover railmount for like $17 bucks in sportsmensguide, so I figured what the heck and got it thinking it would fit my Tantal. It showed up and I tried it out and it fit great actually but the odd thing was it didn't line up well. You could clearly see it wasn't in line with the iron sights. I know these style of mounts aren't exactly the best, and this particular one was for an AK-47, so maybe that had something to do with it.

You can see from those pics how it wasn't lined up. Do you think I could have just REALLY adjusted whatever optics I put on it so it could work?

I found someone with an AK-47 (I think it's a WASR-10) who will buy it from me. I said it should fit his gun better, and let him know that it didn't line up on mine very well and he agreed to pay me $25 for it. That's almost what it retails for. Do you guys think that would be unethical to sell something like this? And for the future, what would you recommend for a good optics mount for the Tantal? anything besides the Beryl syle mount? Mine has the selector switch.

Those NCstar mounts aren't great quality. Is your Tantal barrel straight up in your rifle?

Well, I do believe the barrel is straight. The rear sight almost looks a little off set, but I hit what I aim at when I use the iron sighs, I mean it's pretty accurate. If I looked down the gun from the barrel end, the mount looked real misaligned too. it didn't really seem to be lined up with the sights, or the barrel.

I think the rear sights on Tantals might just be like that, because I looked at another one and the rear sight looked a little off to the side.

If the sights are good I 'm sure the cover rail is off center.

the rail looks canted. probably won't work any better on an akm.
