Is a 1956 russian tula rare? I know of this guy selling one and I am trying to get a ball park price range. I know that the rifle is a referb with lam stock numbers matching. I have been looking at gunbroker but all the russian sks are of the early years. He is asking 450 with no bayonet. Thank you for any input

Just from what I've witnessed on the various threads and web sights $400.00 seems to be the going rate for a Russian SKS. I paid $400.00 for my Tula non-refurb. I have read that Russian Izy arsenal SKS's are not as common as Tula's. I'm certainly no guru on gun pricing but that just seems to be the going rate.

Thanks guys. TD your rifles looks great. Love the stock color on the hard wood. The one that I am looking at has a light color lam stock. I like the hard wood better. I have been looking for a bayonets and they are like 50 bucks. I think that I am going to pass on the 56 and keep looking. Got my eye on a 1951. Thanks again guys

I have read that some of the later Russians may have been originally constructed with the laminated stock. Don't hold me to it though, only the Tula people would know for sure and there's a good chance that many of them aren't around to confirm this 50 years later.

I am quite confident that my '54 Tula is a refurb in lam stock. But it doesn't detract from the giddy feeling of sending large numbers of projectiles downrange and placing them in nice tight groups!

Whichever one you choose, Plague, just make sure to have fun with it!

that asking price is too high IMHO ..the problem with bayos is the adapter..the angle changes from year to year and country of origin...un less he can lay hands on the correct adapter you risk a reeely droopy bayo :uhoh_smal

But you probably can't tell the seller that...

Ishy's are rare as they only made them for a year. 1953 to 1954

Very nice martin! Went to 2 more local shows this weekend and it appears that $400.00 is the going rate on ANY SKS. The Russian's are starting to show up at the shows now because people can double their investment on them.

This is exactly why I snatched up my Russian. At $500 with ammo I could not go wrong.I always wanted one but put it off.I thought I was going to pay between $375-$525 for one.I was happy to get it for what I did,td

Thanks guys,

I was really lucky on this one. A local classified had it listed for $250 with all the accessories you see, inclucing 35 rounds of Chinese Steel Core ammo last November. The listing was up for only 8 minutes before I snached it up!

He could have easily asked $500 and taken $450, but I don't think he was keeping up on the price surges at the height of the election craze.

And no, I don't want to sell it!
