I know this post is going to be long but I feel that a little background about my situation is in order to put my request into context.
I received a kit from ORF about 2 months back and it's a beautiful condition AK-74 Bulgarian kit (and I read cntrailrider's post today about ORF and my heart froze- won't be dealing with them again! I then remembered that they double billed me and sent me two kits and it took me days to get it all straightened out and get the charge off. Thought it was a fluke but holyshit guess not!)
Luckily for me, I have the kit now and here's my dilemma. I am on active duty and facing a deployment in the near future (most likely Afghanistan where the real badass mothers are). I would like to get very proficient with the AK family and plan on using this rifle as my training aid. I bought thousands of rounds from AIM while it was available and cheap so that's why I'm using the 74 instead of a 47. I have already ordered and received the recommended NoDak receiver and the rifle is all boxed up ready to go. I have been having a tough time finding a builder that can complete my rifle in the next few months. I was even quoted at 10+ months by one builder I was really considering!
Don't get me wrong, I fully understand the state of the industry and know that is not an unfair estimate or anything out of the ordinary. However, my situation is a little unique because I am depending upon this weapon for training in a real-world application, not my local shooting range, and my time-table for this is short. Does anyone know of a builder who does quality work and is not so back-logged? I appreciate any information!
