Can I give my sons BATF compliant AK 47's I built for myself?

KernelKrink
Sure, as long as they are used there are no tax issues. If it was built on a commercial receiver, you're good as -is. If built on a homemmade receiver you have to engrave a serial number and makers info on it, same min size and depth regs apply as for commercial receivers.

This assumes no local AW bans or other regs that prevent it.

Thanks for the information. Do you know where I can find the size and depth specifications you mentioned?

John@JCDLESales
Yep .003 Deep And 1/8 High. Some will tell you 1/16 High but that is asking for trouble due to The Fudge Factor when you get that small.

Du get you hammer yet???

Durock
Thanks for the specifications John. No, as of yesterday, the 27th, snail mail is living up to its name. Possibly because of the lousy weather.

unless they "built" them themselves. maybe they did and you just forgot.

Here is some food for thought. In PA at least you can give or pass down any firearm from Father to Son, Grandfather to Son/Grandson and the Female Equiv, Husband to Spouse even if you married a Hooker you met 1 hour before and Vise Versa. But you can't give your Brother or Sister a Hangun without Paperwork and a PA PICS *Pennsylvania Instant Check being preformed????

Go and try to figure this one out.

And if you complain and try to get the law changed, they will just make everyone have to have the paperwork and background check performed!
