View Thread: SKS Jam

Hi, I shot my SKS for the first time at the range today and ran into a problem. The bullets don't always feed right into the barrel and kind of run into a wall sometimes, leaving the action open. The attached box mag must not be pushing the bullet up enough or something. I'm thinking maybe its because I didn't put in the bullets correctly?

Welcome! Are you using the stock magazine? Are you using fmj cartridges or sp or hp cartridges? More info please. Some aftermarket mags don't always feed as they should and some rifles have issues with the hollow/soft point ammo because the rifle was designed for the full metal jacket round.

yes, i'm using the attached 10rd box mag with cheap Monarch FMJ. I cycled the action a couple times and the rounds didn't jam into a wall but still not sure.

Did you clean the gun thoroughly before you started shooting it. If there is any grease in the mag, it will slow down the follower. Be absolutely sure the gun is clear of ALL the grease.
