View Thread: this freaking tok!

southern boy
neighbor was given a tok for christmas, thing is an absolute piece of garbage.

had to replace all the springs in it, recoil spring retainer and side clip were missing, ordered those in (sarco billed for the retainer but didn't ship it, different problem)

had to polish the slide and frame just to get it to cycle.

the sear and disconnector look like they were made with a bench grinder.

got everything together minus the spring retainer and the damn rounds are nosediving into the frame when you try to cycle it.

1 round or a full mag it doesn't matter every one nose dives.

anybody got a fix for this?

note: the mag looks like crap, took about an hour with a file to clean all the spatter of the body weld on the inside so the follower could make it all the way down.

if its that crap mag id like to fix that before chomping on teh frame ramp in an attempt to get the gun to feed.

if i get it working theres 2 more to fix up and one of them is mine.

no safety, no import marks.

well after going apeshit with the foredom motor it finally runs semi correctly.

old mag, runs like a top

new mag will nosedive FTF the second round every time, have to tap the mag and rack the slide back a bit to get it to chamber

Try turning the Spring Leg of the Mag Spring so that it points to the front of the mag with a positive upward force onto the front of the follower.

southern boy
changed out the mag catch and bent the front leg of the followers themselves up slightly, got all 3 mags feeding proper now, 8 out of the original and 7 out of the 2 new ones.

thats a crap deal, i woud have just got the money back. i've had a crap gun, i got tired of trying to fix it and just gave it away since i felt i would be robbing someone if i took anything for it.

southern boy
he got it as a gift.

im talking him into just selling the thing and picking up a CZ

doubtincarnate
ive got a tok, imported with a the crappy safety i had to fix. everything else was fine. but i guess its like a volvo, if you get a bad one. its really bad.

southern boy
he got his CZ, the tok is now way in the back of the safe hopefully to be forgotten.

I was thinking about picking up one of those toks since I already have two CZ-52's. I was under the impression the toks were ok pistols. Is the quality hit or miss, or are they all garbage?

Illuminaughty
Never had a problem with my Tokarev. It runs like a top, even though it's pretty rough quality (chinese).

...and you wonder why they throw the gun in the movies...

Pvt.Joker
Aw hell; if he hates it that bad, tell him I'll give him $100 for it, problems and all... :D
