........she is a beauty :). the milling of the receiver is great, the parts looked new.... the barrel assembly is new.........it came with 2 belts (50 rounds each), drum, drum pouch, sling, canvas rifle cover like the ones for the AKs, tools/ cleaning kit, and a very detailed instruction on the care and feeding of it. this is well worth the bucks.

these are the "B" models.....no reciprocating charging handle, like on the "A" models.....after you load the first round in the handle locks into position....just like on the M60 MG. the charging handle also folds out of the way when not in use, like the L1A1s. this even has a hinged dust cover where the empty links will exit and where the rounds feed......the handguard, isn't really a handguard in the normal sense......it's formed so you hand can grab the weapon and carry it, when manuvering on a batttle field.

loading the belts is unbelievably simple they just pop in, no special linking machine to buy, no aligning individual links, and no loose links to pick up, damage, loose etc..and no sore thumbs.....there is a tab at the base of the links, that you just push the round against, after you pop them in...... so you can't make "long" or "short" rounds.

it just weighs 17 LBS unloaded.......far cry from a 1919, with tripod. you can shoulder this baby and walk to the firing point. and with a attached bipod, no need to buy yet another accessory like a tripod.

haven’t shot it yet, will do that next week.....

if there is one thing I'm not too crazy about is the feed cover.....it only opens up to about 40-45 degrees......but that is the design of it, so I guess I can live with it. :)

if any of you guys are thinking about adding a belt fed weapon to you collection, this has got to be one of them.

Congrats on a fine piece there,

What's the trigger pull like?

I'd be also interested to know its rapid-fire shooting potential (recoil, muzzle flip, etc).

The cheapest caliber in existence to shoot in a belt-fed? To quote "Old Milwaukee":

It doesn't get any better than this......"

16R40-My buddy just got his RPD in Fri.(11 Mar.05)serial #9x.Very well made item that is for sure-I will have one coming in about ??months,The best part of this is that I have pictures of me in country with them,30+ yrs.ago.They are very good and dependable guns,I think the gas settings were 4 or 5 positions?,depending what counrty made them. And after I held my buddies, which was a big mistake on my part, because now I'm like I was when my wife was haveing our last son(and I mean last son),Just couldn't wait to hold the little fella. This remake of the RPD is nothing short of a "class act"If a person lays out the bucks and buys one,he will be more then satisfied.-They are One Great piece of History- best-sincerely-Frenchy

Just took mine out to the range on Saturday. Serial #0007x
Had a little trouble with it doubling (3 different times) and then, after the double, it stuffed the next bullet into the cartridge about 2mm.
So, 3 out of 50....not bad for a new/tight weapon.
I'll check the manual but, if anyone has a fix or something to check, let me know.

The first thing that I would do is contact the people at Vector,it was there "baby" and they know the cure. Some times it takes the well known"brake in period",lots of extra bells and whistles make this little bear run.And as you know its not as basic as a cranker rifle. So give the folks Vector a push, let them know just what is going on with your simi RPD.The cure is only a call away. And if your real impatient, oil the heck out of it,feed tray, plaws, feed ramp, ect. But I would make a call first, oil second.Other then that,it is still a great rifle for the buck, a non gun cost a tad over $1,000.00 and all that dose, is cast a shadow. My best-Frenchy
