What cheap red dot??

You can get an Eotech or Aimpoint knockoff from ebay for less than $100.00.
They work fine for range work and casual plinking. Battery life is short but who cares on a plinking rifle. For serious work though get the real deal.

I've ordered an Ncstar red dot cheapy, crossing my fingers it works. Not looking for much more than fast target acquisition, so my expectations are low. My 74 doesnt have much kick, so it may be fine. Will post my results when it shows. For 35 bucks shipped I figure I can't go far wrong.

Hello Kentucky Bob, long time no hear! How and where do you want to put it on rifle, covers with rails are useless, you can mount on side if mount is on gun, but you will still need a rail-mount, or you can get a front upper handguard repl.
called ultimak, but there is about $70.+ just remember, you get what you pay for! You can get a good USA made red dot for under a $100. but mounting it on gun might be the problem! :)

get an older aimpoint-- a 3000 or 5000. perfect.

cabelas has cheap bsa reddots.

Stay away from NCstar! I know someone who ordered one off ebay for an AR, it was the cheapest piece of junk I have ever seen. Don't get me wrong I'm all about spending as little as possible, or even a little more if its nice and I like it. But after seeing the quality of what he ordered, I will not be buying anything with their name on it. just my $.02

I found one. Its made by Primary Arms and sells for around $90. Its a Aimpoint clone and great scope for the money.

Get the BSA one for $30! Haha, I have one for my Marlin model 60 and it rocks! Maybe you're looking for something a little bit better.....
