Guys how do you remove the wood from the gas tube on a SKS without damaging it?Thanks in advance, tom

you have to knock out a pin that is located at the back of tube.......hard to see, but it's there, then you just pull the back part off and the wood can be removed

The pin at the rear ferrule on the SKS is peened. Usually easiest to Dremel or lightly drill off the musroomed metal and then use a drift puch to knock out the poin. Id too shor for re-install use an ordinary nail or coat hangar opiece cut just slightly oversize to peen in place to hold the freeule in place. Dremel/file any excess pin kleft after peening.

The Tapco fusion stock I installed for my step brother came with a replacement aluminum pin that you mushroom in a vise then file to fit. I'll bet a aluminum rivet shaft would probably be the right size.
