View Thread: 20 Round AK mag in G3 pouch?

I am wondering if 20 rd AK mags will fit in pouches designed for G3 20 rd mags?

Seems like they should be about the same heigth, a little bit narrower and about the same depth. I realize they (x39) are a curved mag, but am hoping the greater width of the x51 mag will enable the pouches to accept the curved AK x39 mags,

Any one know for sure?

my G3's fit in an M14 pouch but not the AK 20's.

I had asked,.I meant "axed" if the Hungarian 20 rounders would fit in the basci 30 round M-16 pouch, either US Issue or the Blackhawk variety. I did a search and found these deminsions:

AK-47 20-rnd steel mag(unknown):
length 6.97" x width 2.56" x depth 0.98"
curvature radius(to center of mag): 8.46"

AK-47 30-rnd steel mag(soviet):
length 8.94" x width 2.56" x depth 0.98"
curvature radius(to center of mag): 8.86 in

M-16/M-4 30-rd: length 7" x width 2-3/4"(approx) x depth 7/8"
Suggested single mag dims: 6-1/2" wide x 7" long x 12" back/ top & flap
Suggested 2-mag pouch dims: 8" wide x 8" long x 13" back/ top & flap

but never having an AR-15 and mag pouches, I dont know if they fit snug or what.
