View Thread: Kobra Zeroing Problem

I am trying to zero an 03 Kobra on my Arsenal SAM-7R with a muzzle-attached laser bore sighter but I'm having the following problem: the red dot reticles are way off to the right of the laser at all ranges. No amount of turning the windage dial changes the way it looks. I have tried lifting up the dial and putting back down past the stop so I could adjust it more but nothing works. Is this sight impossible to zero? Should I even bother to take it to the range and waste time and ammo on it? Any advice/help is much appreciated. Thanks.

Who manufactures your bore sighter? If it's a Norinco you might have your problem there. Or the arbor is somehow off. Check where the iron sights line up and then look through the scope to see where the reticle is. If it matches or is at least close to the point of impact you probably have a problem with the way it's mounted in the bore or the sighter itself has something possibly wrong. I shared your same experience once and although i thought i correctly installed the arbor which i have done quite a few times, it was off and causing my problem. Hope you find out whats up. Thats a sweet rifle! And a Kobra is pretty sweet as well.

It's a SiteLite Mag Laser SL-100. It actually attaches to the muzzle via a shaft with caliber-specific o-rings that go down into the bore to keep it straight and magnet at the top to hold it in. No arbors to mess with and so no need to worry about bad arbors or a chamber that's not aligned perfectly with the bore. It was $100 at Cabelas but I think it's worth the price since it works with every gun I own without additional parts required. Anyway, it lines up perfectly with the iron sights.
I'm about ready to run over this Kobra with my Chevy. Thanks for the response though.

I have a red dot (different make) that has no vertical adjustment. Send it back
if you can't look through it and see the DOT change location on the wall as you
adjust it while looking through it. Banging it on your hand several times may
break things loose but it didn't work for mine.

Part of the problem is range of motion. I have yet to figure out how to make large changes on the sight. Mine has the two adjustment knobs but nowhere near enough movement to get it zero'd.
I think that is what he is referring to.

Problem solved. Reddot223 explained that you make large adjustments by turning the center screw, exactly what Tantal says not to do. It actually says that in the crappy directions but I went by Tantal's since they were easier to read. He says "This center screw does not need to be adjusted in any way." I was able to align the dot with my laser bore sighter quite easily by pointing it out my window at an approx. 50 yard distance and I'll dial it in this weekend at the range. Note to self: always read directions thoroughly. Thanks to everyone who replied, I hope reddot223's advice helps others as well. Happy New year!
