View Thread: Barrels?

Hi, Guys for my first "build" I am looking to put togeather and RPK. My question is why do none of these kits (Rommy kit's, most Yugo's have them but the kits are in bad condition) have barrels and where can I get one.

And I don't want a dark, rusty pipe either. Something bright, shinny and cromed lined would be preferred.

~Thanks

these kits are demiled from used and I would dare say abused rifles, they are not new rifles........which is why these barrels and parts are kinda bad

yugo barrels are not chromed lined, rommanian are. and just becasue the barrls are shinny, is no indication that the barrel will be good.........a friend of mine bought a rommanian RPK parts kit, years ago from I/O, the barrel look good, had what appeared to be good rifling in it.......he had it built and took out to shoot it, every single one of the holes in the paper were "keyholed" indicating the barrel was "shot out"

you always take a roll of the dice if you buy a parts kit, unless it's one of the few of the ones that were demilled from new rifles, ie, bulgarian AK-74, AKS-74U, or the yugo M92

my advice would be to buy the AES 10B that CENTURY imported, if you do have a issue with it, CENTURY has a warranty on them.

Thanks for the info, but that kind of defeats the point. I am trying to get into building/gunsmithing.

Do you know where to get Rommanian barrels? Also can a Yugo barrel be used in a rommy rifle? or vice-versa?
