View Thread: NFA tricky need assistance

When I was much younger and not too smart I was arrested for a controlled substance and it was a felony 3rd degree. I plead it down and the court did a "WITHOLD ADJUDICATION" which I am told is not a conviction. I have been able for the past 10 years to buy long guns as well as handguns. I have gone through the fdle and ncic background check with no issues. Do you think I will have any problems with NFA/ATF and is there anything I should do to help the process.

Thanks in advance

Well, I have no info to help you with the question. But I want to congratulate you for keeping your life squared away since your days of youthful indiscretion.
A good reminder here for the youngest among us, that the choices you make as a kid can haunt you for the rest of your life.
Hope this works out well for you, gunrunner123.

I would think you should be alright if you are able to purchase other firearms. If you are ever denied a purchase you are able to appeal the decision. When this happens it requiers alot of leg work on your end providing various court papers to show what the outcome of the court procedings were.It must have been plead down to a high court misdeamenor or misdeamenor. If I am not mistaken doesn't "WITHOLD ADJUDICATION" mean charges were dropped after completing your court requierments?td

From what I have read and been told, withold means that the state never "labelled'it a conviction, so I can legally say I was never convicted and on top of that I got to keep alot of my rights such as voting, guns and driving. I dont know how the feds view it. I will let you know what happens. Thanks alot.
Yes if I had to do things over I would have done many many things very different. I paid a high price for youthful indescretions
thanks

if you can pass the NICS background check, you will have no problems with NFA.
