View Thread: New M44 owner

I've taken my m44 to the range and had some accuracy issues. Granted I could use some more time working w/ the sight picture, but at 50yrds I was all over the paper (supported). I was shooting 182grn yellow tips. Am I making a fundamental shooting error or lacking familiarity w/ this weapon? I find it surprising that such a renowned weapon could be so off, which tends for me to think it's my technique. Thanks

Try extending the bayonet.

I tried the bayo extended and retracted and didn't notice a significant difference.

I remove the bayonets from mine. Try some light ball ammo.

I can only think lighter ammo. Checking to if barrel/action is loose in stock.

Getting more in practice with the trigger pull. When the gun goes off it should be a pleasant surprise. Try praticing dry firing just after shooting live rounds. ???Do you flinch when you "know" the rifle is going to fire???? Dry firing at home when it is empty - you would usually not flinch. As you shoot and loose track of how many shells are in the gun shoot untill it goes click. If you flinch down then try not to anticapate when the rifle goes off. It is a pleasant surprize like fire works.

Some of these rifles have been centered bored to get another 3,000 tp 8,000 rounds out of them. My M44 was center bore down aprox 20mm to get into some fresh rifleling and a clean crown. I not sure you can expect a supper accurrate rifle. But it should hit a 8.5 by 11 piece of paper at 50 yards every time. If you where to hit any thing any where it will hurt - alot. :uhoh_smal
