Looking to buy a Vector RPD, I have a chance to get an early RPD but have heard some issues with these. This person said the warenty work had been done by vector the hammer and trigger pins staked on. I have also heard that sometimes the pin or what ever iti s called in the feedway area, sometimes falls out and cannot get a replacement, I t hold the feeding prawl in the feedway area, and is in contact with a spring. Just want to make sure on the early ones, or should I just buy a new one. Thanks, Jerod

have fore Vector RPD’s in the early serial # ranges one with over 11k rounds in it.
Problems with the early guns were 1) the intermediate firing pin or transfer bar would stick due to the rolled pin bending, this would cause the gun to slam fire several rounds then give light primer hits. Vector’s fix was to install a new rolled pin and to shorten the firing pin, slam fire would never be the case agin.
2) Main pin was not hardened correctly and would bend, if not caught in time this would tweak the receiver and if bad enough Vector would have to replace it.
Things to check to make your RPD shooting experience pleasurable .The striker attaches to a tube with an Allen screw. Check and make sure it is tight after everytime you shoot, lock tight may be in order. Check the Allen screws on the side of the rail that the changing handle rides on and the Allen’s for the drum hanger, if lose lock tight them.
Turn your gas system top 1=less gas, save you locking recesses from ware . Bring your RPD tools , check the gas bolt after few hundred rounds.
