I am new to comp. and net, did get a cheap hand me down comp. from an aquaintance and i set up a g-mail acct. and joined a few forums! However on a couple that i want to join since they have all info on 2 types of my guns, but on 1 when i want to register says, this address has been banned??? On another it says that Hot-mail and G-mail are not allowed, but that this address has been banned!??
I had read about cookies and I P address, and went on net and thought i had cleared my cookies and I P address, free of charge on a few sites. But now on any forum i am on whenever i turn comp. off i have to sign in every time despite
always hitting the remember me button. This never used to happen!
So i opened an AOL E-mail address and tried to join those 2, the one that does not accept g-mail does not accept AOL either and said this address has been banned. The other forum simply kept saying i punched in an in-correct verification code despite me doing 10 x. This is likehaving a phone and being only able to call certain numbers!
What can i do to clear all this mess up, without having to spend a bunch of money? Remember i am extremely comp. illiterate!
Thank You. :huh_small

i think some forums ban those particular email hosts as a way of deterring spam.
if you look around the sites in question you "should" find a "contact administrator" link or somthing to that effect. using that contact, send them a message letting them know your situation and that you would like to join their forum and they "should" be able to help you directly.

i just checked this sites registration page and sure enough the link said "contact us", sop thats where i would start on the other sites. go to their registration page and send them a message :)

I did that on 2 different forums, but never got a reply!

You may have to sign up with a local carrier that a local email account.

In my instance, to join certain sites I needed a personal email account that was not Hotmail or the like. I called my internet provider and got an email account, which was actually free with my service - an unknown freebie in my case.

Hotmail, Gmail & AOL are notorious for being the email systems used by spammers, so that's why so many forums will not accept them.

I suggest you contact your ISP (Internet Service Provider) & see what they have to offer in the way of email accounts (often included in your service).

I too have problems with some sites failing to "remember" me & I've never worked out why.

If you're new to the internet, then I suggest you make sure you have both a Firewall & an Anti Virus program installed in your PC.

I also suggest you don't use Internet Explorer as your browser & download Mozilla Firefox as an alternative.

yup. if it's free they do not accept. i had that prob. with the smith & wesson forum. i had to use my home cox.net address. you'll have to use a paid account in someones name. aol doesn't work since they went free. my reg. address is my business aol address i've had for 8 yrs., no worky.
