View Thread: My RPK-S with folding stock

Check out my folding stock RPK-S. Yeah, the Russians made one for the airborne divisions. Mine came about because I needed to make the stock longer for my 6' height and long arms. I've come to admire the club foot stock so I wanted to retain that feature. I cut the receiver chunk off of the stock to make it flush; then I put in wood brass inserts for 10-24 screws. An ACE receiver block was installed. I put the push button folding mechanism on the wood. The folding mechanism is actually backwards as I needed the slots for the stock screws. The part going onto the receiver block was countersunk for the angled head metal screws. I cut the remainder of the wood receiver chunk down to slide into the opening for the tang; later I may put in a piece of wood into the old sling indention, but for now I filled the screw holes with wood pegs. When folded, since there is about a 3/8" gap between the stock and the scope mount, there wasn't a need to inlet a channel. If I add a scope in the future I may need to router a channel, but I'll deal with that when I get there. The sling mount was added on the right side, however, when folded the carry handle is handy to have.

Results: Length with stock unfolded - 44" and with stock folded - 35 1/2"

Of course I added a RPK bipod, a US made flash hider, and a Polish pistol grip( which looks good with the furniture). Century didn't give me a cleaning rod, but I'll add one later.

Looks good. The RPK buttstock I have looks like it was made from a piece of plywood. I was thinking of making some copies of different lengths.

Very impressive job. I want to say I have seen pics of Romanian forces with the standard wire folder on their RPK's. Has anyone else seen those pics?
