:straightf [B]--It really burns my tail like a 4 foot flame would-When I hear people call a Romak/FPK,SSG97-A DRAGUNOV-Never was, never will be-Now There is one guy on AA-that has a "Romanian Dragunov" for sale-item # 6160259-$735.00-Not bad price for a Dragunov, and he even shows a picture of a Russian/Chinese made Dragunov-Not a Romak,SSG97.FPK,ect.ect-But the picture of the real Dragunov-$735.00 I will buy about ten if that was so.I called this man and really got an ear full of what a Dragunov is and who made them, ect. And most of all-he did not have any at his place of buisness. But they were at his wholesalers-and guess who-SOG-Now we all know that SOG-sells real Romanian made sniper rifles-But do they sell "real Dragunovs",and at a real deal of a tad over $700.00-I dought it.Now I'm not down beating the Romanian sniper rifle-I was an advisor to a Canadian arms buyer in the very early 80s-and they bought a few Romanian sniper rifles on my "say so" as well as other types of material, while we were in Romania after I looked them over-very well made items-useing the same receiver as they used on there version of the RPK-All of there arms were of the highest quiality-as were the accessories-all top shelf gear-And the Romanians were as proud of there sniper rifles as could be-they told me that they could have had the Russian made Dragunov if they wanted it-but chose one of there own making-I went to there range-and watched there sharp shooter pook hole in tragets,at 400 meters-hit 4 different targets, firing just 4 shots in the kill zone(chest)in what they called "Quick fire"(fuka fuk?)I like the Romak then-and still do now-But its not a Dragunov,When people call them a Dragunov,It remines me of a guy that use to call his Harley Sprint,a HOG-or say lets call a Chevy sedan a Corvett --some have the same type motor-but that is were it ends--So check out the "Dragunov" on AA#6160259,and if its a real Dragunov and you guys buy it-then I will bang my head into my freshly painted walls of my bed room, cry out load that I didn't buy the deal of a life time and hide in the darkness of the staircase, refussing food or drink for at least a day-So lets call it what it is-lets say a "sharp shooters rifle"made in Romania-how's that-- sincerely-Frenchy

Hey i hear you,, as another example i was at the local shop and a guy came in wanting a Drag.. they told him
we hope you have some bucks to spend and be willing to wait till we find you one,, and this guy pulls out a ad that was in shotgun news,, but these are advertized in here for less than 700.00... We explained to him that thats not a Drag not even real PSL just a kit gun that is made up from Romak parts kits.. Well to make a long story short he wanted this PSL clone anyway.. so it was ordered , it came in and we looked it over...We were supprized to see that it was a screw together kit on top of that... The guy that ordered it came in to pick it up and first thing he saw was the stamping on the reciever
above the mag well that says Dragonov.. and is convinced he has a real Drag.. I went to my truck and
brought out a real PSL and showed him the markings
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v64/patm41/PSL-2.jpg
He was shocked when i showed him there is a difference
And we showed him what a NDM looks like which is close to a SVD..
Well this guy left the shop with his hi priced kit rifle but i still dont think it sunk in that its was not a real Drag

The wholesellers that continue to market these Kit guns
and calling them Drags ,, is sorry buissness.. on top of that this one was screwed together and there was no mention of that in the add at all...

yeah i hear ya both, i'm currently looking to buy a ssg97 or fpk after looking for a real dragunov and coming to the conclusion that i'm not going to find one very easily. i see all the ads saying "real romanian dragunov sniper rifle" and just have to laugh. i know what to look for as far as real dragunov go and i know that they are not real dragunov but the fpk's or the ssg's or psl's or what have you and for $700 i'll be happy with that but i'm with you guys that they should advertise them for what they are. i was surprised with the last issue of shotgun news that i got though to find that on the inside page they have advertised ssg97's for just that, ssg97's. and for just that reason that's probably where i'll get mine from.

I'm with you guys, people selling the completed Romanian rifles as dragunovs is shady at best.

Is anyone other than Centerfire Systems selling bare PSL receivers that have the Dragunov stamping on them? Of the ones that Centerfire carries, I wonder if they were stamped here or overseas as dragunov?

yahoo, i'm getting ready to order an fpk from SOG. well the one they advertise as the dragunov but we all know it's an fpk. i was going to order from inter-ordanance but i can save a few bucks getting it from sog. granted it won't come with the 8X42 scope but the 4X24 one, and only comes with one mag but i can get a bigger scope later if need be. i hear alot of people like the 4X24 scopes better though actually because of the wider field of view and in general i tend to agree. no sense in narrowing the field of view that much when the rifle will probably be shot at around 300yards and seldom more. but anyway i know i'm a hipocrit for ordering from sog when i just got done saying in my last post about the false advertising and everything but.... what can ya do? at least i know that it's an fpk and not a real true dragunov svd. oh and i did just read though somewhere a day or two ago that the ones from sog actually come stamped with dragunov on them!!! i guess i'll find out eh?(oh, frenchy, maybe that could be the reason the guy says that they are real dragunov's??? i'll let you all know what's stamped on mine when i get it but i know i read somewhere around here that someone that just bought one of these from sog stated that it was stamped dragunov fpk or something like that. i'll let you all know in about a week or so...)
