View Thread: Yugo RPK and Chicom Bipod
FloridaAKM
I have seen it posted that if you have a Yugo RPK that does not have a bipod, you can get a Chicom bipod that will clamp right on. I bought one (bipod) and it is too wide for the slot where the original bipod fit. I still have the original stub of the original bipod and was wondering has anyone modified the Chicom bipod to fit the Yugo stub or do you have to remove the front sight, modify ( shorten) the bipod clamping area to fit? Inquiring minds want to know.

I think it's the Chinese replacement bipod that has a wider clamp than the RPK bipod. If it's not from a Chinese RPK and is a commercial clamp on bipod then it's wider than the Chinese RPK bipod. I don't know about the Yugo vs Chinese RPK bipods but the clamp on the bipod can usuall be shortened to fit the clamping area on the barrel if it will fit the diameter of the barrel. This way the barrel doesn't have to be modified, only the bipod.

Thanks for the reply, I wasn't going to modify the barrel;
only the actual bipod clamp. My first option was to move the chicom bipod to the yugo stub, but I think that that is a null idea at this point.

I turned my Yugo RPK into a Tabuk so I have a refinished bipod for sale. I don't know what a fair price for it is.

I removed the front sight, the original stub and replaced the sight. After way too long of milling & grinding on the bipod, I got it installed. Upon putting the RPK on the shooting bench to test it, one of the adjustable legs fell out of the socket onto the ground. Now I remember why I hate chicom stuff.
Gunplumber, I paid $20.00 for this bipod. What do you want for your bipod shipped? Give me a fair price and I will see if we can do business. I already have one Yugo RPK with the correct bipod and a good barrel. I can get the TIG rig out and weld the legs to a fixed position. That should work till something else falls off :laugh_sma .I turned my Yugo RPK into a Tabuk so I have a refinished bipod for sale. I don't know what a fair price for it is.

I dunno what a market price would be - considering the number that lack bipods, I'm thinking $65, $10 ship

I only paid $225.00 for the kit and it shoots well so let me think on that price. I'm not saying that it is too steep, just that I need to check my finances. Does it come with the original stub that slides onto the barrel?

Mark,
Check your email, I included a note in my recent one about bi-pod prices.
