I lost a gun just like this in 98 and I'd like to replace it. It is now $600 and I want to replace it as I was fond of it then. Any thoughts of the 357 round and your thoughts onit in general?

Thanks

Scott

I can't say much good or bad about the S&W model 66, but we have a 6" model 28 and a Colt Trooper Mk3 in 357, they are alot of fun to shoot and the recoil is not bad. The down side is the ammo is not very cheap.

What the heck, go fot it!

Scott, CDNN was running some 66's recently for around $350. I think they were 4". 800 588 9500, ask for Tracy.

IsMurphy, I kinda like the model 27's (627) a little better, I think they are a little
heavier. Can't beat a 357 for plinking with 38's to a nice home defense gun and
capable medium sized game hunting gun. I would get which ever model has all
the trick aftermarket bearings and the like, never know when you'll grow a wild
hair and want to trick it out.

Well the gun is sold and I didn't get it. Geez bigwheel that mod27 goes for about $850.

Thanks guys.

Had no Idea they have gotten that expensive. Look for a nice used one or on-
line for the good guy price.

A lot of people talk about what gun would you have if you could only have one. I was down to one and decided to keep a 6 inch M19. The M66 would be just as good.

http://freepatriot.com/model19.php nice article on the 19's. Got a peach in
a 22 that came out of an estate years ago. You just can't beat a 50's or 60's
Smith and they don't carry the hefty price of a colt just yet.

I owned a Model 19 4inch back in '75 , started using it for "Practical Pistol" shooting before I changed to a Semi Auto.

The 4 inch was joined by a 21/2" Barrel Model 19 with a smaller rounded grip.
Favorite load at the time, was a 125gr Jacketed soft hollow point (Speer ?) with a charge of Blue Dot. Great Velocity .

I also freaked recently realising how Revolvers have crept up in price. I like to replace some of what I once had , including the Model 19, Model 29 and Python.
All blued, can't seem to warm up to Stainless.

I like the .357 round and Favor the S&W Range .
